About Marilyn Hawkes Counselling Services

Feeling overwhelmed and uncertain? You don't have to face life's challenges alone. I offer a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts and emotions, I'm here to help you navigate your journey. I see adults and children with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, anger issues and stress. Sessions are conducted securely online.

I am a qualified Counsellor, offering a warm, confidential, empathetic, and non-judgmental counselling service. I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and I work within their Ethical Framework.


Finding a counsellor that you feel comfortable with is a very important part of the process. I use an integration of various approaches, and tailor work to clients’ needs, in order to support them to find the strength to overcome challenges.and that therapy can be a powerful tool for achieving this balance.

It also includes an introduction to support options, focusing on early intervention, harm reduction, and developing an informed and compassionate response to addiction.

 I also hold a BSc Open University Degree, with a focus on sociology, philosophy, psychology, and art. This provides a broad academic foundation for understanding human experience from multiple perspectives, including social context, personal meaning, behaviour, and creativity.  Prior to my counselling training, I worked as a healthcare professional in both the NHS and the private sector. This experience gave me a strong understanding of clinical environments, patient care, and multidisciplinary working, as well as supporting people through physical and emotional health challenges. It has shaped my holistic approach to practice, recognising the close connection between physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing.
